Predictions, Odds, Player Props & Best SGP for Phillies Vs Astros (June 25) - SCCG Management
  • The Houston Astros welcome the Philadelphia Phillies for the second game of their series tonight.
  • Pitching tonight are Houston’s Colton Gordon and Philadelphia’s ace Zack Wheeler.
  • See my bets and predictions, including a same-game parlay, for tonight’s Astros vs Phillies game.

After a 1-0 win in the series opener, the Houston Astros aim to keep their momentum going as they host the Philadelphia Phillies in the second game of their interleague series at Daikin Park on Wednesday, June 25, starting at 8:10pm ET.

Colton Gordon (2-1, 4.54 ERA) will start for the Astros, looking to secure a series win against another division leader. The Phillies will counter with ace Zack Wheeler (7-2, 2.61 ERA), intending to even the series. Both teams are dealing with significant injuries, with Bryce Harper, Yordan Alvarez, and Chas McCormick all out, along with several Houston pitchers. See all odds for tonight’s Phillies vs Astros matchup and my game picks below.

Astros vs Phillies Picks & Predictions

  • Best bet: Under 7.5 runs (-115 at BetMGM)

I favor the under (7.5) here for two main reasons: significant injuries to key hitters and the pitchers on the mound. The Astros rank in the league’s bottom half for runs scored, and apart from Christian Walker, no one has had much success against Zack Wheeler.

I anticipate the Phillies’ lineup may challenge Colton Gordon, but Houston is unlikely to leave him in long if he struggles. Gordon has only exceeded five innings in two of his seven starts this season. The sooner Houston relies on their bullpen, the better for the under bet. Houston’s bullpen ERA is 3.26, second-best in MLB.

Additionally, Daikin Park isn’t a high-scoring venue in MLB. The over has been achieved in only 3 of the Astros’ last 10 home games and only 16 of their 41 home games this season (39%). For the Phillies, the over has hit in just 3 of their last 10 road games.

If you’re seeking a same-game parlay for tonight, here’s my bet on bet365, utilizing their 30% MLB SGP boost:

SGP Picks

  • Zach Wheeler 6+ Ks
  • Phillies Moneyline
  • Trea Turner 1+ Hits

This SGP is +140 odds before the 30% boost.

Wheeler has achieved at least six strikeouts in 14 of his 15 starts this season, including 9 Ks against the Blue Jays (second-fewest SO/gm) and 7 and 8 Ks in two starts against the Nationals (fourth-fewest). Although the Astros don’t strikeout much, they do more than those teams. Without Alvarez, I expect Wheeler to record at least six Ks.

I favor the Phillies moneyline, expecting their lineup to handle the LHP tonight. I anticipate Wheeler going deep into the game, handing over a lead to the bullpen.

Assuming the Phillies win, Trea Turner has excelled against LHP this season, hitting .306 in 98 ABs. He should face Gordon at least twice tonight.

Houston Astros vs Philadelphia Phillies Odds

At writing, the Phillies were -161 favorites on the moneyline and +110 to cover the -1.5 run line. The moneyline odds suggest the Phillies have a 59.2% chance to beat the Astros. The total was set at 7.5. Odds continue to update ahead of the first pitch to ensure you get the best offer on each bet.
