Texas Card House has added an extra security guard at all times to its Houston location after at least four poker rooms in the area were robbed over recent weeks. The club itself was not targeted. One of six TCH properties in Texas, it is responding to what appears to be a serial robber situation.
The operator has also increased security at its Dallas location, though for reasons unrelated to the Houston incidents.
The most recent robbery occurred about a week ago at Capri Poker Club in Webster, some 25 miles from Houston city center. More than a dozen armed robbers entered the 20-table card room demanding money. Spades Poker House in Baytown and Empire Poker Club were also targeted.
Video surveillance from the Capri Poker Club incident appears to show a matching suspect from the Spades Poker House robbery. Police have identified at least one suspect across the cases but have made no arrests. Capri Poker Club plans to relocate around the first of the year due to its building lease ending, unrelated to the robbery.
The Houston poker community faced a similar situation last year when armed robbers targeting Lucky J Social Club were caught after following players home.
Texas Card House was not among the robbed venues yet chose to add continuous security coverage to protect the business and its players. The move reflects a proactive stance against the ongoing pattern in the region, as detailed in reporting by PokerNews.
The adjustments are confined to the specific locations and events described, with no broader changes indicated for the operator's other properties.
