Football Bet of the Day: Look no further than North London for goals on Saturday

Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Premier League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Premier League

⏰ Saturday 6 December, 15:00

Two clubs separated only by goal difference in the Premier League table meet in North London on Saturday afternoon as Thomas Frank’s Spurs hosts his former side, Brentford, in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Thomas Frank’s hosts have scored 23 goals across their opening 14 Premier League fixtures this campaign, with eight (35%) of them coming on home soil.

Spurs have failed to score just twice in the Premier League this season – notching on multiple occasions in eight (57%) of them coming- and will look to breach a Brentford backline that has kept just one clean sheet across their last 12 Premier League outings, shipping 2+ goals in 6/7 (86%) of their road trips.

Keith Andrews’ visitors have scored 21 goals across their opening 14 Premier League encounters this term, with six (29%) of them coming on their travels.

The Bees have found the back of the net in 11/12 (92%) of their Premier League contests this season when excluding meetings with the top-two – striking on multiple occasions in six of their past 11 – and will be confident of breaching a Spurs defence that has kept just one clean sheet across their last 10 Premier League outings, shipping 17 goals.

Bet of the Day

I successfully tipped goals in Tottenham’s last Premier League outing at St James’ Park on Tuesday, and I see no reason to change my approach as they host Brentford on Saturday.

Spurs’ last 11 Premier League encounters have averaged 3.18 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in nine (82%) of them, as well as in each of their previous six in all competitions (4-0, 2-2, 1-4, 3-5, 1-2 & 2-2).

Brentford’s opening 14 matches in the Premier League this season have averaged 3.07 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in nine (69%) of them, including in 9/11 (82%) of their meetings when excluding the top-three.

What’s more, this fixture tends to produce goals, with the previous six clashes averaging 3.83 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in five (83%) of them – including the last three at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (1-3, 3-2 & 3-1) – and I’m backing a repeat on Saturday afternoon.

  • Over 2.5 Goals
