ZachXBT, a well-known Twitter user, famous for investigating scams and fraud in the crypto world, has created a detailed thread focusing on Christian Nieves, also known as Daytwo.
Christian Nieves Implicated in Coinbase Scam by Crypto Investigator
The investigator claims that Daytwo is linked to a crypto scam where victims were misled by fake Coinbase employees and encouraged to create accounts on the exchange. The links shared with victims directed them to phishing sites instead of the genuine Coinbase platform, aiming to steal their credentials and specifically gain access to the victims’ private keys, crucial for authenticating cryptocurrency transactions.
Due to the instantaneous nature of cryptocurrency transfers and the lack of personal identifiers, tracing the money is nearly impossible for typical investors, although an expert could manage.
ZachXBT is associated with a notable digital casino, Roobet, where the supposed scammers laundered their earnings. Allegedly, $4 million was stolen from victims, with up to 30 thefts suspected by ZachXBT, though the number of victims remains unspecified.
ZachXBT claimed to track Nieves as the suspected leader left obvious traces. The digital investigator found social media footage of Daytwo gambling at Roobet under the alias “pawsonhips.”
ZachXBT’s Theory on the Events
The investigator suggests that Nieves’ actions might not solely stem from criminal intent but could be driven by a gambling addiction, hinting at Daytwo’s possible struggle with it.
“Daytwo has a gambling problem, and you’ll see on-chain how casino deposits get smaller as he loses funds. Recently, this escalated to the point where he started stealing cuts from accomplices,” the anonymous investigator stated.
In addition to gambling, Nieves reportedly used some of his illicit earnings to invest in Monero – XMR, known for its untraceability and popular for allegedly moving stolen funds.
