D.W. “Dave” Barrick Named Chairman Emeritus of SCCG Management

Nearly 35 years ago, D.W. “Dave” Barrick and I started down a road together that neither of us could have fully imagined. Hundreds of thousands of miles by air and road. Thousands of morning walks, late-night huddles, meetings, and phone calls. A partnership that became something more, a life-long collaboration, a “father & son” kind of relationship that I’ve never taken for granted.

Together, we pioneered some of the most innovative transactions in the U.S. casino industry: riverboats in Kansas City, Missouri, casinos in Biloxi and Tunica, Mississippi, the transformation of Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, tribal gaming developments in Oklahoma, and so much more. But what we really built, underneath all of it, was a life lived fully and without regret, persevering, treating people with respect and dignity, and looking back on our work with pride while looking forward with hope for our children, our families, and this industry’s future.

It’s for all of this, the deals, yes, but far more the friendship, the mentorship, the teaching, the love and respect, that I am proud to name D.W. Barrick as Chairman Emeritus of SCCG Management. Some things you simply can’t put a value on. This is one of them.

Please join me at G2E 2026 in honoring Dave, a partner, a mentor, and family.

D.W. “Dave” Barrick — Chairman Emeritus, SCCG Management

D.W. Barrick was born in Oxnard, California, on May 10, 1946, to parents H. Wayne Barrick and Lorraine Brown Barrick. He spent his early school years in Northern California before moving to southeastern Oklahoma, where he finished high school while living on the family ranch. He began his college studies at Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma, before transferring to Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. He left Central State in his junior year to enter the financial industry, working as a securities broker, loan officer, and insurance provider before moving into full-time banking.

In May 1966, Dave married Freda A. Cox of Summerfield, Oklahoma, while the two were attending college together in Durant. Their son, Monte W. Barrick, was born in January 1971 in Oklahoma City; Monte has since given Dave and Freda three grandsons, Christian Mark, Alexander Wayne, and David William, all residing in the Phoenix Valley of Arizona. Dave served six years in the United States Army Reserve, from 1966 to 1972.

Dave’s career guided him from banking, mining, ranching, oil, and equine breeding into the world of gaming. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Barrick Properties Inc., a Nevada company wholly owned by the Barrick family, since 1990, having previously served as President from 1978 to 1989. From 1990 to 2012, he also served as CEO of Barrick Properties Inc., overseeing the company’s Nevada hotel-casino operations and its position as one of the largest fee-simple landowners in Las Vegas.

Dave’s gaming career includes the start-up of Casino Magic, the first land-based dockside hotel casino in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and a joint venture with Station Casinos in Kansas City, Missouri, building a $500 million riverboat casino and hotel. He served as CEO and Chairman of Barrick Gaming Corporation, which owned and operated six hotel-casinos in Downtown Las Vegas alongside approximately 37 acres of retail and commercial real estate. Since 2005, he has also served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Managers for The Alan Wayne Company, LLC, focused on Native American gaming and real estate development.

For nearly 35 years, Dave has been a partner, mentor, and close friend to Stephen Crystal, collaborating on some of the most significant transactions in the modern U.S. casino industry, from Downtown Las Vegas to Kansas City to Oklahoma’s tribal gaming market. In recognition of his decades of partnership, mentorship, and contribution to the gaming industry, D.W. Barrick has been named Chairman Emeritus of SCCG Management, honored at G2E 2026.

Dave has resided in the Phoenix Valley of Arizona for almost 30 years with Freda, his wife of over 50 years, and continues to guide and oversee operations for the family businesses.
