The Route: 13 Days of Discovery
🏙️ Reykjavík — Urban Arrival & Preparation
The journey begins in Reykjavík at the elegant Parliament Hotel, steps from Iceland’s cultural landmarks and vibrant dining scene. The team stocks up on essentials and gears up for the road ahead, driving a 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser 250 or Land Rover Defender built for Iceland’s rugged terrain.
🏔️ Snæfellsnes Peninsula — The Gateway to the West
Often called “Iceland in Miniature,” Snæfellsnes blends black-sand beaches, coastal cliffs, and glacial peaks. The group settles in at the iconic Hotel Búðir, framed by Snæfellsjökull Glacier and the roaring North Atlantic.
🌋 Akureyri & Mývatn — The Land of Fire and Water
The northern leg unfolds through Akureyri, Iceland’s “Capital of the North,” and into the surreal volcanic landscapes of Lake Mývatn. Steam vents, lava fields, and natural hot springs showcase the geothermal heart of the island.
🧊 Höfn & Vatnajökull Glacier — Into the Ice Kingdom
Journeying eastward, Stephen and Johan approach Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier. Here, glacier walks and ice-cave excursions reveal the otherworldly blue depths that have made Iceland a photographer’s dream.
🏖️ Reynisfjara Beach & Thórsmörk Valley — Black Sands and Highlands
The expedition continues south to Reynisfjara Beach, famed for its basalt sea stacks and moody Atlantic swells, before venturing inland toward the Thórsmörk Valley, where glaciers and moss-covered ridges form Iceland’s most breathtaking hiking trails.
🌈 The Golden Circle & Blue Lagoon — A Grand Finale
Returning to Reykjavík, the team explores Iceland’s legendary Golden Circle, visiting Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir Hot Springs, and Þingvellir National Park—the birthplace of Iceland’s parliament. Before departure, a restorative soak at the Blue Lagoon marks the perfect ending to an unforgettable journey.
The Experience
Each leg of the trip is a mix of adventure and reflection—soaking in hot springs under the northern lights, crossing glacial rivers, and dining in remote lodges surrounded by snow-dusted peaks. Every destination tells part of Iceland’s story: a land forged by extremes, thriving at the intersection of nature and resilience.
