SCCG Take — Premium-priced lottery products like this one sustain large payouts and retailer incentives, reinforcing their role in generating consistent engagement within state gaming systems.
The Texas Lottery announced on Wednesday, November 4 that a Houston resident won a $5 million jackpot after purchasing a scratch-off ticket at a Super K convenience store on San Felipe Street in Uptown. The winner has claimed the prize and elected to remain anonymous under state law. The retailer will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
The ticket came from the $5 Million Titanium Black game, where each ticket costs $100 and the top prize starts at $150. The Texas Lottery states that the odds of winning any prize in this game are 25% higher than in other products. The game has already paid out more than $448.6 million in winnings overall.
Gury Rudey, manager of the Super K store, said he had been hoping for a major win at the location for the last couple of years. "I was actually hoping for somebody to big win the last couple of years. And I’m glad someone from here and someone I knew won the jackpot," Rudey said. Rudey knew the winner and saw him scratch the ticket in his car before the individual returned to shake his hand with the words "Thank you for the big winner."
Rudey only realized the full size of the prize a few days later when the win was formally announced. He told the Texas Lottery he is happy to see others win, noting that his shop has previously sold tickets tied to big jackpots. As reported by GamblingNews, the payout reflects the scale of prizes available in the state's premium instant games.
