A New Jersey player won the seventh Powerball jackpot of 2026 for $847M annuity or $363.1M cash after 35 rollovers. It ranks tenth-largest in game history. 2026 also delivered a $1.04B Illinois win with sales rising as the prize grew.
SCCG Take — High jackpots drive measurable ticket uptake that funds public programs, a pattern lottery operators and states should track for revenue planning.
A New Jersey ticket holder matched all six numbers in the November 4 Powerball drawing to win the seventh Powerball jackpot of 2026. The unclaimed prize offers an $847 million annuity or $363.1 million lump sum. The numbers were 15, 34, 41, 53, 56 and Powerball 21, with a 2x Power Play.
This result ended 35 consecutive drawings without a winner. It stands as the tenth-largest prize in Powerball history.
According to reporting by GamblingNews, the New Jersey win follows a $1.04 billion jackpot claimed in Illinois this summer. The all-time high remains the $2.04 billion prize won in California in 2022. Stephen Durrell, product group chair at Powerball, explained: "When the jackpot reaches this level, players take notice, and we’ve seen that excitement reflected in ticket sales over the past week. Every ticket sold helps grow the jackpot while also generating funding for important public programs and services in local communities."
Twenty-five players matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000 each. Four others took $100,000 prizes with the Power Play multiplier. No Match 5 winners emerged. The jackpot has reset to $20 million for the Saturday drawing.
