Sahara Las Vegas is now the first Strip casino to let customers convert Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Litecoin into gaming chips via the cage through BurraPay. The system, approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, follows Circa's June launch and includes a 5% fee plus strict ID and verification rules limited to gaming only.

SCCG Take — This execution shows regulated crypto integration can scale from downtown to the Strip while meeting AML standards, likely prompting faster adoption by other Nevada operators seeking similar customer flexibility.

The Sahara has become the first casino on the Las Vegas Strip to offer regulated cryptocurrency-funded gaming transactions through its casino cage. Customers can convert Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Litecoin into chips or casino tickets for gambling. They are not wagering cryptocurrency directly.

The north-Strip resort announced the rollout in partnership with crypto-payments company BurraPay. The Nevada Gaming Control Board approved BurraPay’s system earlier this year. BurraPay launched a similar system at Circa Resort & Casino downtown in June. That debut marked the first compliant cryptocurrency payment operation in Nevada’s regulated gaming market and facilitated the state’s first legal crypto-funded sports wager, according to reporting by Casino.org.

Operational Requirements and Fees

Users must be at least 21 years old, hold an active Infinity Rewards account, present valid photo identification, and complete identity verification before their first deposit. The one-time verification uses a secure link sent by text or email plus a selfie check. BurraPay charges a 5% fee on deposits. The option is limited to casino gaming and cannot be used for hotel rooms, restaurants, or other resort purchases.

Compliance Measures and Expansion Plans

BurraPay designed its platform to satisfy anti-money-laundering and gaming compliance requirements. The company says its technology includes blockchain-monitoring tools capable of identifying potential problem-gambling behavior in real time. “In June, our downtown launch made BurraPay the first compliant crypto payments provider to operate within Nevada’s regulated gaming market,” BurraPay co-founder Luke Millanta said. “Bringing that experience to the Las Vegas Strip was the natural next step.” BurraPay is in discussions with additional Nevada casino operators and expects more properties to adopt the technology in the coming months.

The Sahara described the move as a way to provide additional payment flexibility while remaining compliant with gaming regulations. This rollout on the Strip sets a concrete precedent for how regulated crypto cage transactions can function without direct wagering of digital assets.
