The discussion signals accelerating focus on practical technology deployment over experimentation.
SCCG Take — Leagues and operators face pressure to integrate real-time data solutions that deliver measurable fan value. Sportradar's emphasis on verified inputs over generic AI highlights the binding constraint on scalable deployment.
Sportradar attended the 36th edition of SPORTEL Monaco, held from October 19 to 21 at the Grimaldi Forum. The event gathered representatives from 73 countries and 780 companies across sports media and technology. Raphael Sobral, director of Sports Partnerships at Sportradar, represented the company and detailed its perspective in an interview published by Focus Gaming News.
Artificial intelligence featured prominently, with conversations moving beyond adoption to strategic application and measurable outcomes. Sobral stated: "The conversation is evolving: rather than simply discussing the adoption of AI, the industry is looking at how to apply it strategically and deliver measurable results."
Sportradar combines real-time verified data with AI to automate processes, deepen analysis, and create new presentation formats. Its AI Researcher tool assists broadcast teams in identifying relevant information and context. The 4Sight solution integrates probabilities and metrics into live broadcasts.
Fans now seek personalised, interactive experiences with live statistics, visualisations, and multi-screen access. Speed separates on-field events from fan delivery. Sportradar's widgets, Live Match Tracker, Insights, and 4Sight add context to plays, while OTT platforms combine video and data without requiring users to leave the stream.
Sobral highlighted three trends: enriched live broadcasts through tools including OnAir, SRDI, Radar360 and 4Sight; expansion of streaming and direct-to-consumer platforms that integrate video with audience insights; and personalisation via FanID for targeted communication and behaviour measurement. Data intelligence connects these areas to generate value for leagues, broadcasters and federations.
The event reinforced that sports industry progress relies on tighter integration of data, technology and content. Sportradar will maintain investments in artificial intelligence, data quality and emerging tools to support partner content creation and new commercial opportunities.
