iGaming.com Group has placed Relevo under a structure that supplies group technology and operations while preserving full newsroom editorial control. The August 2026 acquisition targets Spain as a multi-year market with the 2026-27 season as the first full test. Hiring remains open to expand specialist coverage.

SCCG Take — The separated model isolates editorial decisions from commercial infrastructure, offering a template for media operators entering regulated sports markets without compromising brand credibility.

iGaming.com Group has brought the Spanish sports outlet Relevo under a revised operational model that pairs group resources with newsroom autonomy. The arrangement, announced in August 2026, supplies technology, data, and operational support while leaving all editorial decisions inside the Relevo newsroom. Andreas Ditsche, CEO of iGaming.com Group, described the setup as a scalable platform for long-term brand development.

"Relevo operates under a different structure from the previous project," Ditsche said. "Its editorial team is supported by iGaming.com Group's technology, data and operational capabilities, while responsibility for editorial decisions remains with the newsroom. This gives us a scalable structure that allows us to strengthen the publication as its audience and coverage develop, with the objective of building a high-quality and financially sustainable media brand over the long term."

Relevo.com arrived with its full domain, published archive, and social accounts. Vocento, the publisher that founded the outlet in 2022, retains neither equity nor oversight of editorial or commercial choices. iGaming.com Group itself employs close to 300 people across multiple markets.

Spain as a Long-Term Market

Ditsche positioned the transaction as a multi-year commitment to Spain. "Spain is an important long-term market for iGaming.com Group, and Relevo gives us the opportunity to invest in an established Spanish media brand with a strong editorial identity and an existing relationship with sports audiences," he said. The outlet has cultivated its own readership since 2022 and is intended to anchor the group's Spanish footprint beyond any single season.

A Full Season Under the New Structure

Football and basketball dominate coverage, with cycling, motorsport, and major international fixtures in support. The 2026-27 season, already underway, becomes the first complete championship cycle delivered inside the group. Editorial control stays with the editors; recruitment continues for specialist contributors and freelance journalists. "Relevo has a team of editors supported by specialist contributors and freelance journalists with expertise across different sports," Ditsche said. "Recruitment remains open as we continue to expand the editorial team."

According to reporting by Focus Gaming News, the approach mirrors other publishers that treat technology as infrastructure rather than editorial substitute. The model isolates content decisions from commercial and operational layers, reducing friction that can arise when ownership and newsroom priorities collide.

Where the Risk Lies

Execution risk centers on whether the separated structure can deliver both scale and quality as the audience grows. Retention of editorial staff and timely hiring will determine if the 2026-27 season coverage meets the standards the brand established before integration. Sustained investment in Spain will be measured by audience metrics and revenue stability rather than short-term traffic spikes.
