Andy Cunningham has joined the independent judging panel for the 2027 RTG Global Awards. The appointment coincides with the program’s expansion to 12 categories from six. Nominations remain open to individuals, organisations and initiatives worldwide.
Andy Cunningham is principal of Praxis Integrity. He holds more than 20 years of experience in sports integrity. Cunningham previously led Sportradar’s Integrity Services Partnerships Team for over a decade. Prior to that role he spent ten years heading Betfair’s integrity team. He has acted as an expert witness in match-fixing disciplinary proceedings and criminal court cases. Cunningham has also testified in US state legislative hearings on sports betting regulation.
The panel now comprises 12 judges with backgrounds in regulation, integrity, research and operations. Its members include Khalid Ali, chief executive officer of the International Betting Integrity Association, Kai Cantwell, chief executive officer of Responsible Wagering Australia, Tim Miller, former executive director of the UK Gambling Commission, and Dan Waugh, partner at Regulus Partners.
The 2027 program doubles its categories. Six new additions address core policy problems. These cover the Gambling Harm Prevention Campaign, Research Impact, Sport & Wagering Integrity Initiative, Compliance Advisory, Black Market Disruption Initiative and Distinguished Contribution. The Sport & Wagering Integrity Initiative and Black Market Disruption Initiative align directly with Cunningham’s expertise.
Nominations close on December 21, 2026. Finalists will be announced on February 1, 2027. The awards gala takes place on March 9, 2027. Eligible work must have been undertaken or materially advanced in the previous 12 months. According to reporting by Focus Gaming News, Paul Newson, founder of Regulating the Game, noted the panel brings senior expertise across markets.
The expanded categories target financial crime exposure, harm reduction, illegal market leakage and research translation. These issues appear consistently across jurisdictions. Submissions will be measured against practical outcomes rather than intent alone. Operators, regulators and suppliers now hold a defined window to document initiatives that meet the new criteria before the December deadline.
