SCCG Take — The hire equips a tribal operator with data-driven marketing leadership to support brand expansion and guest retention in a competitive Washington market.
Emerald Queen Casino has named Richard Harp as its new chief marketing officer. The appointment brings a marketing executive with nearly two decades in the gaming sector to the Tacoma, Washington-based tribal operator. Yale Rowe, CEO of Emerald Queen Casino, cited Harp’s ability to convert data into effective guest strategies.
Rowe said, “Rich brings a deep understanding of the gaming industry and, just as importantly, what keeps guests coming back.” Rowe said, “We have big ambitions for the property and Harp is the right person to help us reach more people, strengthen our brand, and find new ways to connect with our guests.”
As CMO, Harp will lead marketing across the operator’s Tacoma and Fife properties. His oversight covers player loyalty, advertising, public relations, digital and social media, promotions, and entertainment.
Harp most recently served as vice president of marketing at Bally’s Chicago after joining the company in 2025. His prior gaming roles include vice president of data strategy at Boyd Gaming and vice president of casino marketing at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. Before entering gaming, he spent more than a decade in financial services marketing at KeyBank and E-Trade.
The move returns Harp to the Pacific Northwest. Born in Texas, he moved to Portland, Oregon at a young age, attended Portland State University, and began his career in the region. Harp said, “I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, so having the opportunity to come back and join EQC is something I’m really looking forward to. I’ve spent much of my career focused on understanding guests and finding ways to give them a better experience.”
This development, according to reporting by CDC Gaming, pairs Harp’s analytics and loyalty expertise with Emerald Queen Casino’s stated growth plans.
