World Gaming unveiled an Indie Game Zone for ICE 2027 inside the new Technology and Innovation Hall. It targets studios operating 10 years or less with pods from €12,500 that include full branding, tours, and marketing exposure. The format aims to accelerate operator access to unproven casino game concepts.
SCCG Take — Operators gain an earlier look at unscaled IP, but established suppliers face new competition for floor space and attention at the show.
World Gaming, the organiser of ICE Barcelona, has announced an Indie Game Zone for the 2027 edition of the show. The dedicated area sits inside the new Technology and Innovation Hall and gives independent developers a direct line to global operators and decision-makers.
The zone targets developers that have operated for 10 years or less and have not reached the scale of established suppliers. Eligible studios must not currently exhibit at ICE or iGB Live, must not be subsidiaries of larger casino games providers, and must have games or concepts ready to present.
Lease costs for modular pods start at €12,500. Each pod includes a branded cabinet, TV display, logo placement, stools, 500K electrical socket, and an ICE website profile. Participants also receive guided stand tours, a three-game feature in an Indie Games Showcase campaign, and placement in the Slots News newsletter.
Group Managing Director at WG Alex Pratt said the Zone was designed to give emerging studios greater visibility at ICE. “The Indie Game Zone is about giving genuinely exciting new studios a real platform at ICE, the kind of visibility that used to take years to earn.” “We built this because the industry’s next big thing is often coming from teams nobody’s heard of yet, and ICE should be the place where operators and decision makers find them first,” he added.
The zone occupies space in the all-new Hall 7, positioned as a hub for gaming tech innovation, enterprise technology, AI, payments, infrastructure, fintech and new iGaming ideas. Developers will demonstrate prototypes and live game builds to operator delegates. Applications for the Indie Game Zone at ICE 2027 are open.
The initiative reflects a deliberate effort to surface talent that organisers describe as “the developers people will be talking about in five years’ time.”
