Light & Wonder Appoints Mike Smith as Managing Director, Asia Effective 1 October 2026

TL;DR — Light & Wonder appointed Mike Smith as Managing Director, Asia effective 1 October 2026. The 25-year veteran from Aristocrat and IGT will relocate to Macau to prioritize customer partnerships and sustainable regional growth. The move coincides with Stormonth’s sales promotion and Jolly’s shift to strategic development.

Light & Wonder has named Mike Smith its new Managing Director, Asia. Smith, currently Vice President, Global Commercial Strategy, Tables, assumes the post effective 1 October 2026 and will relocate to Macau with his family.

Smith previously held senior leadership roles at Aristocrat Gaming and IGT. The supplier credits him with more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning gaming, commercial strategy, product management, business development and operations.

Veteran Leadership for Dynamic Asian Markets

Light & Wonder stated that Smith has built a reputation for driving growth, leading business transformation and expanding market presence across regulated gaming jurisdictions worldwide. His mandate centers on strengthening customer relationships, supporting regional teams and driving sustainable long-term growth.

“Asia represents one of the most dynamic gaming markets in the world and I’m excited to work alongside our customers and teams across the region,” said Smith. “My focus will be on building long-term partnerships, delivering consistently for our customers and supporting sustainable growth that creates value for all stakeholders. By earning trust through execution and maintaining a long-term perspective, we can continue creating meaningful value for our customers and the markets we serve.”

The company added that Smith’s leadership will emphasize partnership, operational excellence and delivering consistent value for customers.

Regional Team Realignment

Smith’s appointment follows the recent promotion of Phil Stormonth to Senior Director of Sales for Asia. Long-time VP and Managing Director, Asia, Ken Jolly, has transitioned to VP Strategic Development, Asia.

L&W is betting on execution and relationship depth in Asia's biggest markets — Smith's track record suggests they mean it.

Asia is where the casino floor still drives billions in hardware and systems revenue. SCCG has watched suppliers win and lose in Macau and across the region based on one thing: local credibility and consistent delivery. Smith's pedigree at Aristocrat and IGT signals Light & Wonder is prioritizing boots-on-the-ground partnership over remote management.

SCCG angle: SCCG has deep relationships across Asian gaming regulators, operators, and distribution channels built over three decades. When a supplier repositions leadership in the region, we help partners navigate the shift — introductions to the right local stakeholders, insight into competitive positioning, and clarity on where partnership opportunities actually exist versus where they're just talk.
