Big Perk and I go way back. Almost two decades ago, in Houston “H-Town”, my business partner and best friend (B1…IYKYK) asked me to take Big Perk under my wing and keep him out of trouble. Back then, we were hosting We R 1 Pro-Am Basketball tournaments every summer at the Iconic Fonde Rec Center, where the Best Street Ballers and NBA Legends like 6X NBA Champion Robert Horry, NBA All-Star Steve Francis, Houston Rocket Guard Cuttino Mobley, and the Reebok And1 crew would pull up.
Big Perk was this young, hungry kid with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. I watched him go from the hardwood of Fonde to the parquet floors of the TD Garden, where he became an NBA Champion with the 2008 Boston Celtics. And man, if you know anything about that Celtics squad, you know those plane rides were legendary.
