MGM and Globo’s Power Move: A Bold Bet on Brazil’s Gaming Future

With the recent regulation of sports betting in Brazil, interested companies face new financial requirements, including a substantial licensing fee of R$30 million (US$ 6m), valid for five years, and an additional tax on revenue. This aims to balance the market and generate revenue for the government.

Grupo Globo, using Cartola FC’s CNPJ, expressed interest in entering the betting market through DFS Entretenimento, seeking accreditation as a bookmaker along with 134 other companies.

Attentive to the regulatory movement, which requires the participation of Brazilians in partnership with global operators, the large networks, such as Band and SBT, Globo took the lead by seeking a strong partnership to bring in all the expertise of an experienced and leading operator in your area of activity.

Therefore, it is in advanced negotiations with the American BetMGM, which had already been surveying the Brazilian market to apply for a license as soon as the market was fully regulated.

The moment has arrived and the two powers in their areas of activity are about to close the contract, which will have DFS Entretenimento, which operates Cartola FC, as the local partner of the powerful American bookmaker.

BetMGM is a bookmaker founded in 2018 and based in New Jersey, United States. It currently has partnerships with Tottenham, Manchester City, NewCastle, Wolverhampton and Manchester United.
