Harrington flutters in
Flutter has appointed Kevin Harrington as its new UK & Ireland CEO. The PokerStars CEO will succeed Ian Brown, who held the position for over two years, who expressed that stepping down and pursuing other goals was right in the wake of Flutter’s restructuring efforts.
These restructuring efforts will combine all of Flutter’s non-US operations under its ‘Flutter International’ division, while keeping its US operations – primarily consisting of FanDuel – in an alternative division. On Harrington’s promotion, CEO Peter Jackson said the UKI business was “in safe hands as we embark on the next phase of our growth plan.”
Finland’s Veikkaus faces ad fumble fine
Finnish monopoly operator Veikkaus is facing a €2.9m ($3.07m) fine from the Police Board after it was found that Veikkaus advertisements airing on TV were being placed in programs watched by minors. The operator faces a three-month advertising ban alongside the fine.
Veikkaus was asked to clarify its advertising practices after concerns arose in May. Despite working with the Police Board, a breach was flagged in July, triggering the fine and ban.
Veikkaus Sales and Marketing Director Anu Kytö said: “We are very sorry that, despite our joint development measures, our advertising has been seen in the advertising breaks of programs aimed at minors due to human error.”
