Meta Weekly – CES 2024

The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, a hallmark event in the technology sector, recently concluded with significant fanfare. Drawing in over 140,000 attendees and covering more than 2,000,000 square feet across eight Las Vegas casinos and the Las Vegas Convention Center, CES once again proved to be a global beacon of innovation and progress.

Gaming and esports was primarily located in the Las Vegas Convention Center Central Hall and featured industry giants like Razer, Gigabyte, and HP. A significant event was the launch of the HP/Omen partnership with Riot Games, held at the Hyper X Esports Arena, signifying a major step forward in the gaming landscape.

Virtual Reality (VR) technology, a consistently prominent feature at CES, showcased the astonishing progress in this immersive technology. The highlight was the full haptic suits, offering a tactile dimension that transformed virtual experiences, especially in shooting games, into a nearly tangible reality. It’s been great to see the evolution of VR, which was jumpstarted by the COVID lockdowns.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions also garnered much attention, with their diverse and innovative applications. Automated driving systems, programming solutions, health & wellness technologies, and even automated pet care solutions were on display, each demonstrating the transformative power of AI in various aspects of everyday life.

CES is a melting pot of cultures and innovations, and this year’s event was no exception. I was able to celebrate Korean innovation at one of the post conference events. This gathering was not only about showcasing technology but also about celebrating the global community behind these advancements.

If there was one standout product from CES that I’d like to take, it would be the electric car capable of both road travel and flight. This vehicle symbolizes the limitless possibilities of technology and the forward-thinking spirit of CES, where futuristic dreams become tangible realities.

In essence, this year’s CES was more than a showcase of the latest gadgets and technologies; it was a vivid demonstration of the relentless pursuit of progress by the global community and a glimpse into a future where technology enhances every aspect of our lives.
