As we bid farewell to another remarkable edition of iGB L!VE in Amsterdam, it’s hard not to feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement for the future. This year’s event marked the end of an era, as next year, this popular mid-summer show will move to London. While we’ll miss the picturesque canals and historic cityscapes of Amsterdam, the energy and enthusiasm at this year’s conference promise an exciting transition to the new venue.
Traditionally an affiliate conference with a focus on traffic in emerging markets, iGB L!VE has evolved dramatically. Now, game studios, platforms, and iGaming infrastructure filled the exhibition halls, reflecting the dynamic and ever-growing nature of the industry. The buzz in the air was palpable, with numerous discussions centered around sweepstakes in the USA and burgeoning markets like LATAM and Brazil.
One of the most striking observations from the event was the vibrant showcase of games enhanced with gamification elements. Bonusing and personalization took center stage, highlighting the industry’s commitment to creating engaging and tailored experiences for players. This evolution not only reflects the technological advancements but also the shifting demands of a more discerning player base.
The exhibition also shone a spotlight on innovative traffic sources. Influencers, unique media, and entertainment assets were prominently featured, showcasing new and diverse ways to capture and retain audiences. This trend underscores the industry’s adaptability and its willingness to explore unconventional avenues to drive growth and engagement.
My time at iGB L!VE was filled with insightful conversations and exciting encounters. On Day One, I took a morning stroll to the City Center, where the rush hour movement of bicycles, pedestrian foot traffic, and metro disembarkments resembled a choreographed urban ballet. The natural beauty of Amsterdam, with its trees, canals, and gardens, added a serene backdrop to the bustling activity. It was a pleasure to catch up with colleague Wayne Stevenson and attend the opening reception for iGB Events “Live.” A special thanks to Bennie Mancino for featuring me on his podcast, “In the Know with the BMan.”
Day Two kicked off with registration and the opening reception, and the exhibition was officially open for business. Catching up with Brandon Walker and the team from Amelco Limited at the historic Clayton Hotel was a highlight. We discussed North America and the SCCG Managed Services Road Show, which will span over 30 states and 100 tribal casinos. The energy was infectious, and it was fantastic to reconnect with so many old friends and colleagues while making new acquaintances.
In conclusion, iGB L!VE 2024 in Amsterdam was a fitting finale to its tenure in this beautiful city. The event not only showcased the latest trends and innovations in the iGaming industry but also highlighted the community’s resilience and forward-thinking mindset. We are excited about the future and look forward to continuing our journey in London next year. Until then, see you in OKC!
