Nevada officials are intensifying efforts against criminal activities at casino venues amid summer tourism in Las Vegas. The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) have issued a warning to casino operators, highlighting growing concerns of illegal activities at nightlife and pool areas. The notice emphasizes the need for action to avoid penalties.
In an official notice dated June 25, 2025, the NGCB detailed issues like drug dealing, sexual assault, underage entry, physical fights, prostitution, and theft at clubs, day pools, and similar venues. The Board called for enhanced security and scrutiny of criminal ties to performers and their crews.
The NGCB acknowledged the efforts of many operators to ensure safety but stressed that casinos remain accountable for any illegal acts on their premises, even if venue operations are outsourced. Maintaining a lawful environment is a legal obligation, and venues tied to illicit activities may face sanctions.
Officials stressed the threat to the reputation of Nevada’s gambling industry from ongoing problems. While entertainment is a major draw, repeated incidents can damage trust in both individual venues and the industry.
Law enforcement agencies are working to address these issues with targeted operations and collaborative training. The NGCB and LVMPD are prepared to assist casino owners in implementing effective practices and risk reduction.
In safeguarding state reputation, the Nevada Gaming Commission recently fined Wynn Resorts $5.5 million for anti-money laundering failures related to unauthorized overseas money transfers and proxy betting. Though officials recognized the company’s cooperation and reforms, some commissioners voiced concerns about the broader impact on Nevada’s gambling image and advocated for stricter industry oversight.
