Monday's football tips: Chelsea star Palmer 12/5 to sprinkle some stardust against Los Angeles

It’s another busy day at the Club World Cup and Chelsea get their campaign underway by taking on Los Angeles FC in Group D.

The Blues headed to America on a high after qualifying for the Champions League and lifting the Conference League trophy. They will be keen to put on a show and should top a section that also includes Brazilian side Flamengo and Tunisian outfit Esperance.

Los Angeles aren’t in great form, sitting fifth in the MLS Western Conference, so it’s hard to see them stopping Chelsea if Enzo Maresca’s men are on top form.

Chelsea vs Los Angeles FC top betting tips

The bookies make the Premier League giants heavy favourites to kick off in style, with Marseca’s side just 1/4 at BoyleSports. The Americans are 8/1 outsiders in Atlanta and even the draw is pretty big at 9/2.

Although Los Angeles FC have won just four of their last 11 games, they’re also unbeaten in their last nine. Five of those matches have ended level and clean sheets have been thin on the ground.

BTTS and over 2.5 goals has landed in seven of their last nine, so that bet could stand a chance here at 23/20 with BoyleSports. Backing most goals to come after the break also looks good at 20/23, with that bet landing in the last three for Chelsea.

Cole Palmer lit up the Conference League Final with a couple of cracking assists and the playmaker is 12/5 at Ladbrokes to set another goal up here.

Boca Juniors vs Benfica

Bayern Munich are heavy favourites to top Group C at the Club World Cup so this clash between Boca Juniors and Benfica could be pivotal in deciding who joins the Germans in the knockout stage.

Boca haven’t been in great form this season and headed to America after failing to win any of their last four games inside 90 minutes. So it’s no great surprise to see the Argentinians as 10/3 outsiders for this one.

Benfica’s recent results haven’t been great either and they signed off in Portugal by failing to win any of their last three games. But they still look worthy 4/6 favourites and combining an Eagles win with over 1.5 goals pays 11/10 at BoyleSports.

Argentinian sides are known for putting the boot in so I like the 11/10 on offer at Bet365 for Boca to pick up most cards. Betway also price over 2.5 Boca cards at a decent 10/11.

Drogheda United vs Shamrock Rovers

First plays third in the Irish Premier League tonight and Drogheda can blow the title race wide open if they beat Shamrock Rovers.

United trail the leaders by eight points so this looks like a must-win game if they’re to stay in contention for the crown.

Shamrock head into the game on a high after a 2-1 win over Shelbourne on Friday, while Drogheda could only draw 0-0 with St Partick on a night when all three of our Super Singles came up.

That made it four draws in five games for Drogheda so the stalemate will be popular at 5/2 with BoyleSports. I’m going to play it a bit safer and go for the half-time draw at 21/10.

Over 2.5 goals has come up in both meetings so far this season so that bet also looks decent value at evens with the same firm.

Monday’s Super Singles

  • Cole Palmer assist 12/5 Ladbrokes
  • Boca Junior most cards 11/10 Bet365
  • HT draw in Drogheda United v Shamrock Rovers 21/20 BoyleSports
