An indictment in Vietnam disclosed that 145 locals engaged in illegal gambling at a casino reserved for foreign visitors last year. Included among these individuals were renowned singers, entrepreneurs, and government officials, collectively wagering $106 million at the King Club casino in Hanoi’s Pullman Hotel.

Out of these, 136 individuals now face charges for illegal gambling through electronic games. Of those not yet charged, one is under military investigation, two wagered minor sums, two are mentally unfit, and four remain fugitives.

The venue, operated by South Korean Kim In Sung, reportedly earned around $9.2 million from facilitating the illegal gambling. Details of each player’s activities were highlighted in the indictment. Politician Ho Dai Dung was noted as the most active, placing bets exceeding $7 million.

Vietnamese regulations allow local residents to gamble only in specified establishments under a pilot program, while other casinos are exclusive to foreign visitors.
