Myles Turner Discusses Unexpected Decision to Join Bucks - SCCG Management

The Indiana Pacers had an impressive run to the NBA Finals in the 2024-25 season, with Tyrese Haliburton and the team overcoming the competition in the Eastern Conference. However, the aftermath of their seven-game NBA Finals against the champion Oklahoma City Thunder has been costly, with Haliburton set to miss the next season due to an Achilles injury and Myles Turner leaving in free agency to join the Milwaukee Bucks.

Turner’s decision to leave the Pacers, the only team he’s played for in the NBA, was unexpected, as it seemed he would re-sign with Indiana. The veteran center recently discussed his surprising choice, as reported by Michael C. Wright of ESPN.

“For me, ultimately it was about just staying competitive,” Turner said. “Two years ago, we got to the conference finals. Obviously, last year we got to the Finals. Being a big part of winning basketball just changed my entire perspective on this league. I saw a chance to remain competitive here.”

It will be interesting to see how Turner fits into the Bucks roster and plays alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee next season and potentially beyond.

The Bucks are in a challenging situation after parting ways with Damian Lillard, and it appears this has upset Antetokounmpo, leading to speculation that he might request a trade.
