Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me remain in the English Championship, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Hull City vs Ipswich Town
🏴 Championship
⏰ Tuesday 25 November, 19:45
Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Championship table meet at The MKM Stadium on Tuesday night as sixth-placed Hull City host eighth-placed Ipswich Town in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Sergej Jakirovic’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in the Championship, firing in 28 goals across their opening 16 matches, with 15 (54%) coming in front of their supporters.
The Tigers have found the back of the net in each of their previous 13 Championship contests – scoring 2+ goals in an impressive nine (69%) of them – and will be confident of breaching an Ipswich backline that has kept just three clean sheets in the Championship this season, with neither of those coming on their travels.
Kieran McKenna’s hosts are the third-highest scorers in the Championship, firing in 26 goals across their opening 15 matches, with 11 (42%) of them coming across their six road trips.
The Tractor Boys have failed to score just three times since their immediate relegation back to the Championship – scoring four goals in each of their last two away matches – and will look to trouble a Hull defence that has kept just two clean sheets since the opening day of the season, with only rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday (32) shipping more than the 27 they have let in.
Bet of the Day
I successfully backed Over 2.5 Goals in Hull City’s previous match away at QPR on Saturday, and I see no reason to change my approach as Ipswich make the trip to Humberside.
After a goalless draw on the opening day of the season away at leaders Coventry City, Hull’s next 15 Championship contests have averaged an eye-catching 3.67 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 12 (80%) of them.
Ipswich’s previous 12 Championship fixtures have averaged 3.08 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in eight (67%) of them, including in each of their last three away from home (1-2, 4-1 & 4-1).
