Kings’ Dominance Over Islanders Continues with Narrow 3-2 Victory | AmNewYork – SCCG Management

The Los Angeles Kings continued their dominance over the New York Islanders with a 3-2 victory on Friday night at UBS Arena, tightening New York’s playoff race with 16 games remaining. The Kings’ three-goal first period secured the win, keeping the Islanders in the third playoff spot in the Metropolitan Division, tied at 79 points with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and just two points ahead of the Columbus Blue Jackets. New York has lost nine of their last 10 games against the Kings, with the only win on Dec. 9, 2023. The Islanders almost staged a comeback with two Emil Heineman goals but were stopped by Kings goalie Darcy Kuemper. A Scott Mayfield turnover led to Trevor Moore’s breakaway goal. Anze Kopitar scored next, following a Mikey Anderson shot, and Adrian Kempe added a third goal, converting an Artemi Panarin pass. Heineman scored twice for the Islanders, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Kings’ early lead.
