As Super Bowl LX draws near, the excitement surrounding the event may not entirely meet expectations. However, once the coin is flipped at Levi’s Field on Sunday evening, that will likely change.
Neither the Patriots nor the Seahawks were expected to reach this point at the start of the season. Lacking a superstar quarterback on either side adds an element of unpredictability, but promises an engaging game.
This is only the second Super Bowl in the last decade without Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady, sparking mixed reactions. Some welcome the change, while others miss the iconic presence.
In any case, there are numerous Super Bowl bets to consider this weekend. Here, we highlight three prop bets worth attention.
Super Bowl prop bets: Our four picks
Sam Darnold over 6.5 rushing yards – 1/1
Sam Darnold isn’t known for his running, but betting even money on him gaining seven yards in a game expected to be controlled by the Seahawks is appealing.
Darnold has increasingly relied on his running throughout the season—unsurprising given the Seahawks’ strategy of minimizing air plays. The 28-year-old averages just over 11 yards per carry during designed rollouts, a tactic Seattle frequently employs in the postseason.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba under 93.5 receiving yards – 10/11
While Jaxon Smith-Njigba shines as Seattle’s top receiver, this game likely won’t highlight his aerial abilities. Though he will be targeted often, Darnold is expected to opt for safer plays, focusing more on the ground game.
Smith-Njigba has amassed 172 receiving yards over two postseason games, averaging 86 per game. Most of this came against the Rams, whose defense is less formidable compared to New England’s.
Leonard Williams over 0.5 sacks – 13/10
Seattle’s effective pass rush has been a focal point leading to the Super Bowl. They have three players who each have seven sacks this season, showcasing their ability to apply pressure from various angles.
This spells trouble for Drake Maye, a quarterback sacked more than nearly any other this season. His offensive line struggles, and his tendency to hold onto the ball too long makes him a prime target for Leonard Williams to sack.
