Ex-Houston Lawyer Detained Over Nevada Gambling Debt Warrant - SCCG Management

A former lawyer from the Houston area has been arrested in Texas on a casino debt warrant. The individual, known as D.L.P., was taken into custody by the Bayou Vista Police Department on January 12, 2026, following a warrant from Clark County, Nevada.

P. is accused of accumulating gambling debt at a Las Vegas casino, with no details on the specific location. He allegedly owes the casino $100,000. After being arrested, P. agreed to cooperate with Clark County, was released from Galveston County Jail two days later, and will now make regular debt payments. Prosecutors in Clark County have agreed to drop all charges provided P. continues his payments.

This isn’t the first time P. has been publicly scrutinized. In the past, he was accused of embezzling money from clients and then disappearing. According to KPRC 2 News, at least five individuals complained about him taking their money. The Supreme Court of Texas accepted his resignation and barred him from practicing law in the state.

P. claimed his disbarment was unfair, driven by scheming rather than fairness. He stated he would have contested the decision if he had the resources but was left with no choice but to accept it. In May 2025, P. declared bankruptcy, as reported by KPRC 2, citing debts owed to individuals, banks, and alleged victims. However, his bankruptcy filing was blocked after plaintiffs argued it was done in bad faith to avoid property foreclosure. The court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs.
