All eyes are on the Bernabeu tonight as Real Madrid face Benfica in a Champions League grudge match.
The Spanish giants secured a 1-0 victory in Lisbon last week, but the match was nearly abandoned following Vinicius Junior’s accusation of racist abuse by Gianluca Prestianni.
UEFA attempted to defuse the situation by issuing Prestianni a provisional one-match ban, but tensions are still expected to be high when the teams meet again.
Real Madrid vs Benfica top betting tips
Real Madrid might be wondering how they’re only ahead by 1-0 in this playoff tie after creating numerous chances in Portugal.
They are significantly stronger than Benfica, which explains why the La Liga giants are 1/2 hot favourites at Ladbrokes.
Backing Real Madrid to lead at both half-time and full-time pays 11/10 at Betfred and seems like a promising bet, especially given last week’s controversy.
It may be a busy night for the officials, and I find the 7/5 odds at the same firm appealing for Benfica -10 in the booking points handicap.
Juventus vs Galatasaray
Juventus need to come out aggressively to overturn a three-goal deficit in their Champions League playoff with Galatasaray.
The Turin giants initially led 2-1 in Istanbul last week but were ultimately defeated 5-2 after Juan Cabal’s red card.
Reaching the last 16 now appears challenging for Juve, and they’re 4/1 with BetMGM to qualify, although the Serie A side are 1/2 favourites for a win tonight.
A lot hinges on who scores first today, as the tie will be effectively over if the Turks score.
Juventus will aim to take an early lead to energize the crowd, and backing them to score in both halves offers 21/20 at William Hill.
Kenan Yildiz will be eager to perform against his countrymen, and the Juve forward is a good 31/20 at QuinnBet to score. He’s also 5/4 at BetMGM for over 1.5 shots on target.
Paris St-Germain vs Monaco
Paris St-Germain are in control of their all-French Champions League playoff with Monaco after turning a 2-0 deficit into a win in the principality last week.
Luis Enrique’s side excelled in the knockout stages last season as PSG claimed Europe’s top prize for the first time.
It’s hard to see them faltering at home tonight, and their forwards should capitalize as Monaco push forward.
Desire Doue made the difference last week, scoring twice after replacing the injured Ousmane Dembele.
The winger should start tonight, and he’s 5/4 with BetMGM for another goal. The odds are better for an assist at 7/4 with Bet365, so I’m opting for that.
