Saturday’s football tips: Cherki 15/8 for a goal as City look to crush Salford again in the Cup

There’s a few David v Goliath ties in the FA Cup fourth round today and Salford City will be hoping to avoid another thrashing at the hands of Manchester City.

These sides faced off in the Cup a year ago and it was hyped up as another Manchester derby, with Salford owned by members of United’s famous Class of 92.

But the likes of David Beckham and Gary Neville were left with red faces as their side slumped to an 8-0 loss and they will looking for Salford to put up more of a fight this time.

Manchester City vs Salford City top betting tips

Salford aren’t the only minnows Pep Guardiola’s side have showed no mercy to, with Exeter City losing 10-1 at the Etihad in the last round of the Cup.

So it’s easy to see why the League Two side are as big as 80/1 with BetMGM while you have to back Manchester City at -4 in the handicap to get to odds-against at 6/4 with Coral.

Going for player bets looks like the best option and Guardiola will probably make wholesale changes amidst a demanding fixture list.

I thought Rayan Cherki might start against Fulham in midweek, only for Guardiola to introduce the French maverick from the bench again.

That means he is likely to be in for the start again here and the playmaker is 15/8 at BetVictor for anytime scorer. He’s also 11/10 with Bet365 for an assist.

Burton Albion vs West Ham United

League One side Burton Albion will be looking to spring an FA Cup shock when they host West Ham United.

The Hammers are in the midst of a Premier League relegation dogfight so I’d be surprised if Nuno Espirito Santo fielded a full-strength team for this Cup tie.

He will still want to build some momentum though and West Ham are playing well, with just one defeat in their last six.

Burton’s own form is poor, going five without a win, and they’re 7/1 outsiders with Bet365.

West Ham are a best 2/5 at Coral but backing them to be winning at half-time and full-time boosts the odds to 21/20.

BTTS and over 2.5 goals has landed in the last six for Burton Albion so there could be some value in good for that combination today at 23/20 with Ladbrokes.

Liverpool vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Liverpool’s hopes for silverware this season rest on the FA Cup and Champions League so I’d imagine Arne Slot will pick a strong team for this tie with Brighton at Anfield.

The Seagulls head to Anfield in poor form and boss Fabian Hurzeler could do with a morale-boosting win after a run of just two victories in their last 14 games.

One of those triumphs came at Old Trafford in the last round of the Cup but the bookies can’t see a repeat tonight, with Brighton as big as 9/2 with Betfred.

Liverpool are a best 4/7 with Ladbrokes but you can boost their odds to 23/20 by adding on under 4.5 goals.

Florian Wirtz is finally hitting form for the Reds and came close with a series of efforts in the midweek win over Sunderland. He’s 23/20 with BetMGM for a goal or assist today and that looks decent.

Super singles

  • Rayan Cherki anytime scorer 15/8 BetVictor
  • West Ham HT-FT 23/20 Ladbrokes
  • Liverpool win and under 4.5 goals 23/20 Ladbrokes
