Vote next month after FA board approves radical plan
New playoff format would begin as soon as next season
EFL clubs will vote next month on expanding the Championship playoffs to six teams after receiving approval for the change from the Football Association’s board.
The Guardian has learned that the 72 EFL clubs were invited on Tuesday to an extraordinary general meeting on 5 March, where the vote will occur on a new playoff format starting next season.
