Mike Francesa Calls Robert Saleh's Titans Hire 'a Joke' - SCCG Management

Mike Francesa is skeptical of Robert Saleh’s new opportunity. The former Jets coach, recently appointed as the Tennessee Titans’ head coach after being the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator, had a 20-36 record over four-plus seasons. Francesa believes Saleh got another chance because of the mess the Jets are in under Aaron Glenn, which he finds absurd.

“He’s popular in the league and media. Returning to San Francisco, a hub for job opportunities because of their strong coaching staff, helped him. He’s been absolved, earning him another head coaching role,” Francesa said on his BetRivers podcast.

“It’s nonsense. He was terrible here. Now he plans to call defensive signals, which he didn’t do before. He claimed he needed to focus on the game, yet did poorly. I watched every game; he was a bad head coach.”

Francesa insists he has no personal issue with Saleh, but believes the Jets’ failures aren’t entirely to blame.

“Yes, the Jets are inept,” he stated. “They always mess up. But Saleh being absolved is a joke. He was a bad head coach, and I’d be shocked if he succeeds now.”

Brian Daboll, former Giants coach, is set to be Saleh’s offensive coordinator in Nashville. Francesa commends quarterback Cam Ward and expects Daboll to coach well. However, he doubts the success of this collaboration between former New York coaches.

“I don’t like the organization they’re in, and I’d be surprised if they succeed,” Francesa remarked.
