SlipsTips’ Tips: Take player-based selection in Turkey

SlipsTips shares a player-based selection ahead of Galatasaray’s clash with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Galatasaray vs. Atletico Madrid (Wednesday, 17:30)

Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid will square off in an intriguing-looking Champions League clash at Rams Park on Wednesday evening.

After posting three successive victories across matchdays 2-4, 18th-placed Galatasaray have come away empty-handed from their subsequent two fixtures, losing to both Union Saint-Gilloise and Monaco.

As for Atletico Madrid, they have catapulted themselves into the top 8 after claiming three successive victories, the most recent of which was a 3-2 win away at PSV.

The pre-match odds suggest Diego Simeone’s side will make it four wins in succession on Wednesday evening, with an away success trading at a general 11/10 with most bookmakers.

However, as I tend to do, I’m going to bypass the 1×2 market and instead focus on a player-based selection that I think represents value.

Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez has been priced up at 4/5 on bet365 to be fouled a minimum of once during this contest, and that looks too big to ignore.

Arguably Atletico Madrid’s main attacking threat, Alvarez should draw close attention from Galatasaray’s defenders.

That has certainly been the case in Atletico’s away games in this season’s Champions League, with Alvarez being brought down against both Arsenal and PSV.

The case for backing Alvarez to be fouled on Wednesday evening becomes even stronger when you look at his recent data in La Liga.

The Argentine forward has earned his side a minimum of one free kick in seven of his last nine appearances in the Spanish top-flight, being upended on no fewer than three occasions during Sunday’s 1-0 success over Alaves.

The likelihood of Alvarez coming up against Davinson Sanchez only adds to the appeal of siding with this selection.

The Galatasaray defender is committing an average of 1.67 fouls per 90 when on continental duty this term.

  • Julian Alvarez To Be Fouled 1 or More Times – 4/5 (bet365)
