On the same day the New York Mets welcomed back Juan Soto after a 15-game absence due to a strained calf, Francisco Lindor suffered a calf injury. The shortstop left Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins at Citi Field with left calf tightness. Lindor was injured in the fourth inning rounding third base on Francisco Alvarez’s RBI double that gave the Mets a 2-1 lead. He showed discomfort while completing his run and went into the clubhouse, not returning. Bo Bichette moved to shortstop, and Brett Baty entered the game at third base. Lindor was starting to recover from an early-season slump, having hit a three-run homer on Tuesday and going 2-for-2 with an RBI single on Wednesday before leaving the game.
