I’m kicking off the first half of the Bet Builder by backing Barcelona to score at least once against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night. Hansi Flick’s side have been scoring goals for fun all season, most recently racking up seven strikes in their last Champions League outing against Newcastle.
The Catalan giants have found the net in nine of their 10 outings in this season’s Champions League, while remarkably scoring at least once in all 30 of their La Liga fixtures so far.
Now set to face an Atletico Madrid side that have yet to keep a clean sheet in continental competition this season, Barcelona look well placed to strike at least once.
Lamine Yamal To Be Fouled 2+ Times
In the same game, I’m also backing Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal to be fouled at least twice. The teenage sensation frequently finds himself on the receiving end of some robust challenges, and that was certainly the case against Atletico Madrid on Saturday night, when he was fouled no fewer than three times.
That trend has carried into the Champions League this season, with Yamal being brought down twice or more in seven of his eight appearances so far – including each of the previous three. I’d expect that pattern to continue against an Atleti side well known for their aggressive style under Diego Simeone.
PSG vs Liverpool, Wednesday (20:00)
PSG To Score 1+
Moving into the second leg of the Bet Builder, I’m getting this selection underway by backing PSG to score a minimum of one goal against Liverpool. No team has scored more than PSG (34) in this season’s Champions League, with the French heavyweights finding the net in 11 of their 12 matches so far.
The case is further strengthened by the fact that Luis Enrique’s side have scored in each of their 13 Ligue 1 home matches this season, hitting multiple goals in 10 of those contests.
It’s therefore hard to see Liverpool keeping PSG at bay on Wednesday night, especially given that Arne Slot’s side have kept a clean sheet in just one of their last eight matches across all competitions.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia 2+ Shots
For the final instalment of the cross match Bet Builder Double, I’m more than happy to back Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to attempt at least two shots. The PSG ace is a player that needs no invitation to try his luck in front of goal, highlighted by the fact that he’s averaging an impressive 4.10 shots per game in this season’s Champions League, pulling the trigger at least twice in each of his last six outings.
It’s a very similar story in Ligue 1 this season, with Kvaratskhelia averaging 4.11 shots per 90 in the French top-flight.
Together, these picks form an even-money double that looks good value.
