It’s FA Cup quarter-final weekend and the action kicks off with a clash of the titans between Manchester City and Liverpool at lunchtime today.
It has been a terrible Premier League title defence for the Anfield giants but they’re still in the scrap for Champions League and FA Cup honours.
City are chasing another Treble after beating Arsenal in the League Cup Final and will be hoping home advantage can help them stay on track for a Wembley return.
Manchester City vs Liverpool
Arne Slot was under pressure heading into the international break after a 2-1 loss in Brighton made it just one win in Liverpool’s last four.
City, on the other hand, were hugely impressive as they beat Arsenal at Wembley so it’s easy to see why they are just 4/5 at Betfred for a win in 90 minutes. You can boost those odds to 5/4 by adding on over 2.5 goals and that bet has landed in both meetings so far this season.
Things haven’t quite worked out for Florian Wirtz this season after his big-money move to Liverpool but he did score twice for Germany during the international break.
The playmaker is 5/4 at BetMGM just to have an effort on target in this game and that looks decent value if he starts.
Chelsea vs Port Vale
The David and Goliath FA Cup tie this weekend comes at Stamford Bridge as League One strugglers Port Vale bid to pile the pressure on Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior.
The Blues board have vowed to stick with Rosenior despite a slump that has seen them crash out of the Champions League and drop to sixth in the Premier League.
However, fans will be screaming for the 41-year-old’s head if they exit the FA Cup at home to a side sitting bottom of League One.
Port Vale have claimed the scalps of Bristol City and Sunderland this season but both those wins came at home and they’re as big as 35/1 with BetMGM for a win in 90 minutes today.
It’s hard finding value with Chelsea 1/12 favourites so the player markets are probably the best option. although a lot will depend on who Rosenior picks to start.
Liam Delap could get another chance up front and he’s 21/20 at BetMGM for a goal while winger Alejandro Garnacho looks good for an assist at 9/4 with William Hill if he gets the nod.
Southampton vs Arsenal
Southampton are another lower-league side looking to pull off an FA Cup shock when they take on Arsenal at St Mary’s.
The Gunners have had a fortnight to stew over their terrible Wembley performance and I’m expecting a reaction from Mikel Arteta’s side.
But it won’t be easy against a flying Saints side who have gone 14 games without defeat, including a 1-0 win away to Fulham in the last round of the FA Cup.
Arsenal have plenty of injury concerns and could find it hard breaking down a well-drilled defence so I like a Gunners win with under 3.5 goals at 5/4 with Ladbrokes.
Wonderkid Max Dowman could get another chance to shine after starting in the last round against Mansfield. The teenager is 11/10 with BetMGM to score or assist tonight.
