Wimbledon day 7 tips: Our selections
Novak Djokovic 3-0 Alex De Minaur (23/20)
Novak Djokovic being offered over even odds to win a Wimbledon fourth-round match in straight sets seems almost unbelievable, yet that’s the current offer from several leading tennis betting sites.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion has performed exceptionally at the Championships so far, losing just one set in his first three rounds. Djokovic showed remarkable skill in his third-round win against Miomir Kecmanovic, finishing in just one hour and 50 minutes.
De Minaur will be particularly worried about this match-up given that in their only other Grand Slam meeting, he was defeated 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 by Djokovic at the 2023 Australian Open. Considering Djokovic’s dominance at Wimbledon, a repeat result on Monday seems likely.
Mirra Andreeva vs Emma Navarro – over 22.5 games (11/10)
With several high-ranked players out of the women’s singles competition, both players have a strong chance of reaching the final on Sunday.
Andreeva, only 18, has looked very comfortable on Wimbledon’s grass, winning her first three matches without dropping a set. Navarro has also been strong, losing just one set and defeating two former Wimbledon champions.
Given their current form, this match could go to three sets, but even if it doesn’t, two closely contested sets should suffice to cover the over 22.5 games bet.
Marin Cilic to beat Flavio Cobolli (10/11)
The standout story of Wimbledon so far is Marin Cilic’s resurgence. The former finalist has been impressive, especially at 36, and hasn’t had an easy draw.
The Croatian overcame fourth seed Jack Draper in round two and defeated Alexander Bublik’s conqueror, Jaume Munar, in round three. Winning against such opponents indicates he’s in top form.
Conversely, Flavio Cobolli has had a simpler path. The increase in competition level might be challenging for him, particularly on grass where Cilic excels.
