Lennox Stakes: KINROSS
KINROSS has an impressive record in this race and might be dubbed “Mr Lennox Stakes” if he achieves history next week. The eight-year-old was specifically aimed at this race again, having had a warm-up in the Group 3 race at Haydock, where he placed second. Ralph Beckett’s exceptional sprinter won in 2021 and 2023, came second in 2022, and third in 2024. Opting for a lighter campaign this season instead of Royal Ascot, he could be fresher than others. Rain won’t harm his chances, making him a strong contender to win this race three times.
Thursday 31st July
Nassau Stakes: WHIRL
Aidan O’Brien has clinched this race five times, and Ryan Moore four times, with WHIRL potentially adding to these records. She won the Musidora at York before narrowly placing second to Minnie Hauk in the Epsom Oaks. Her stablemate validated the form by winning the Irish version, and WHIRL triumphed over Kalpana in the Pretty Polly Stakes with determination. She seems to be following in the footsteps of Minding from 2016, with her weight-for-age allowance offering an edge. Tough and genuine, WHIRL is expected to be a strong favorite.
Friday 1st August
King George Qatar Stakes: TIME FOR SANDALS
TIME FOR SANDALS surprised everyone by winning the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot at odds of 25/1 and is intriguing as she drops back in distance and grade. This filly has consistently placed in all six career starts, including Group 2 and Group 3 races, and was second on soft ground in France behind subsequent Prix Jean Prat winner, Woodshauna. This brisk five is different from the demanding six at Ascot, but given her strong finish, this race could suit her. There’s sure to be a fast pace, and she’s considered undervalued. It will be exciting to see her perform under Harry Eustace, who is having a memorable season.
