Fan Files Lawsuit Against Cardi B for Microphone Assault – SCCG Management

A woman alleging she was hit by a microphone thrown by Cardi B during a 2023 Las Vegas show is suing the singer for assault and battery, stating the act caused her injury and humiliation. The woman is also suing Drai’s Beachclub, the concert venue, for negligence.

The event quickly gained online attention. Jane Doe, from Cleveland, filed the case anonymously, citing mental health concerns. Her claim centers on a viral moment from July when Cardi B threw a microphone into the crowd after being splashed with a drink during her “Bodak Yellow” performance.

Videos of the incident spread rapidly, leading to a police investigation. Though no criminal charges were pressed, Doe asserts the event caused significant physical and emotional harm. She seeks anonymity to avoid backlash from the lawsuit.

Doe alleges Cardi B encouraged fans to splash her with water to cool off, and some attendees did so without problems. Doe claims she participated by throwing part of her drink toward the stage, resulting in what she calls a violent overreaction.

The plaintiff is also pursuing a negligence claim against Drai’s Beachclub, arguing they failed to provide adequate security and control the crowd. Cardi B’s lawyer, Drew Findling, dismissed the lawsuit as a cynical attempt to exploit the rapper.

Authorities concluded the case due to insufficient evidence, but Findling suggested a law firm saw an opportunity for profit.

Doe’s attorneys maintain no celebrity is above the law and hope the case emphasizes accountability. The court will determine if Cardi B’s actions constituted assault or were part of the performance.

This lawsuit joins other recent legal matters in Las Vegas, including The Venetian Resort settling a religious discrimination case earlier this month. The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission accused the property of failing to accommodate employees of various faiths.
