NY Jets owner aims to purchase John Textor’s 44.9% Palace share
Palace chair Steve Parish supports the bid
Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets, is nearing a deal to acquire John Textor’s shares in Crystal Palace, a move that could boost the FA Cup winners’ prospects of participating in next season’s Europa League.
Johnson, who has owned the Jets since 2000, proposed £190m for Textor’s 44.9% stake in the south London club last week. The American has also reportedly received two similar offers from other investors recently. Despite being well below his valuation of about £240m, Textor seems to be leaning towards finalizing a deal with Johnson. He is now prepared to move on to invest in another English football club after conceding his boardroom battle with the club’s chair, Steve Parish.
