Hibernian are closing in on third place in the Premiership and could well cover a two-goal handicap when they take on champions Celtic this week.
David Gray’s team have been on a remarkable journey this season, having climbed from the foot of the table in early November to now sitting in pole position to finish as the best of the rest behind the Old Firm.
Their surge up the table was powered by an extraordinary 17-match unbeaten streak in the league, a run that notably included a win over Celtic at Easter Road. That momentum was briefly halted with a defeat at Aberdeen, but the Hibees bounced back immediately, claiming victory over Dundee United in their most recent outing.
Celtic, meanwhile, already have the Premiership title secured and have navigated their final Old Firm clash of the season. With their focus now shifting toward the upcoming Scottish Cup Final, manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to rest key players and prioritise fitness over results.
While Hibs are a long shot at 17/2 to win outright, taking them with a two-goal head start at evens offers strong value.
Elsewhere, Annan Athletic look well placed to complete their play-off mission after an impressive 4-2 away win at Elgin City in the first leg of their League One play-off. Back on home turf, they are 6/5 favourites to see the job through.
Despite an up-and-down season, Annan have shown glimpses of brilliance, recently thumping title winners Arbroath 5-1. The return to fitness of Tommy Goss and Tommy Muir has been a huge boost, with both finding the net in that win at Elgin. They’ll be determined to put the tie beyond doubt early in the return leg.
St Mirren, meanwhile, could shake up the race for European qualification by beating a depleted Dundee United side at Tannadice. Priced at 19/10, the Saints will be full of confidence after securing a top-six finish for a third consecutive season — a feat unmatched outside of Celtic and Rangers.
They ended Aberdeen’s strong run last week, and victory on Saturday would move them to within two points of United. The home side are battling a defensive injury crisis, with only one fully fit defender and doubts over four others, giving St Mirren a golden opportunity to capitalise.
