Game 2 Preview: Oilers vs. Knights – Predictions, Top Props & Best Odds for Thursday Night Hockey | SCCG Management

Vegas Golden Knights Favored in Game 2 After Oilers’ Comeback Win

Following a dramatic Game 1 comeback, the Edmonton Oilers will look to build a 2-0 series lead against the Vegas Golden Knights in Round 2 of the NHL Playoffs. Game 2 is set for Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena, with puck drop scheduled for 9:30pm ET on ESPN.

Despite Edmonton stealing the series opener, oddsmakers have installed the Golden Knights as slight favorites at home, priced at -135 on the moneyline. The Oilers are available at +115, looking to head back to Alberta with a commanding lead. The total for Game 2 is set at 6.5 goals, after the teams combined for six in the opener.

Oilers Rally Again in Game 1

Some things remain constant—especially the Oilers’ script in these playoffs. Edmonton once again fell behind early, trailing 2-0, before storming back to win 4-2. The victory marked their fifth consecutive comeback win, the first time in NHL playoff history a team has done that.

Not surprisingly, superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl led the charge, helping erase the early deficit. The game-winner came from Zach Hyman, while Connor Brown added insurance. Strong performances from Evan Bouchard, Evander Kane, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also helped push Edmonton over the top.

Goaltending Matchup: Pickard Outduels Hill

Calvin Pickard continues to surprise in net. The Oilers backup earned his fifth straight postseason win, outperforming Vegas’ Adin Hill, who struggled with four goals allowed on 28 shots. It was the third time Hill has given up four goals in this playoff run—all resulting in losses.

Vegas also went cold offensively after a hot start. Following two early goals from captain Mark Stone, the Knights managed just seven shots over the final two periods and finished with only 17 shots on goal. It was just the fourth time in 102 postseason games that they squandered a multi-goal lead—and the first such loss in regulation.

Game 2 Prediction

While four of the last five matchups between these teams have hit the under, Game 2 sets up differently. With Vegas in a must-win situation and facing the most prolific offense remaining in the playoffs—Edmonton is averaging 4.43 goals per game—expect plenty of scoring chances from both sides.

Vegas must stay aggressive offensively to avoid another collapse, while the Oilers will continue to generate high-danger opportunities through their elite top-six.

Best Bet: Over 6.5 Goals (-110)

Player Prop Picks

Leon Draisaitl has been a consistent force for the Oilers, scoring in six of seven games and notching both a goal and an assist in Game 1. The German star has now scored in three straight games against the Golden Knights and is favored to find the back of the net again.

On the other side, Tomas Hertl’s struggles continue. The Vegas forward has now failed to record a point in three straight playoff games and is seeing fewer shooting opportunities. He went under his 2.5 shots on goal line in each of his last three performances, making the Under a strong prop play once again.

Top Prop Bets for Game 2:

– Leon Draisaitl Anytime Goal (+120)
– Tomas Hertl Under 2.5 Shots on Goal (-182)

With the Golden Knights desperate to even things up and the Oilers brimming with confidence, Game 2 promises fast-paced, high-intensity action. Expect fireworks in the desert.
