UEFA Conference League Final: 16/1 bet builder for Betis v Chelsea

The UEFA Conference League Final is the main attraction on Wednesday night, as Chelsea take on Real Betis in Poland.

The Tarczynski Arena in Wroclaw plays host to the fourth UEFA Conference League final on Wednesday evening as ante-post favourites Chelsea look to win their first European trophy since the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.

Underdogs Real Betis last lifted a trophy in 2022 as they won their third Copa del Rey, but they have never contested a European final and will be hoping that inexperience doesn’t play a part on Wednesday.

Los Verdiblancos to spring a surprise

Chelsea have been hot favourites for the UEFA Conference League crown since the start of the season and they remain odds-on to win inside 90 minutes in Wroclaw, but Real Betis may prove more difficult opponents than many people expect.

Los Verdiblancos finished sixth in La Liga and, with Europa League qualification assured, had the luxury of resting some key figures in their final-day draw with Valencia on Friday.

Enzo Maresca had no such luxury, requiring a strong contingent to grind out a final-day win at Nottingham Forest in their tussle for a top-five berth. Not only that, they have two fewer days to prepare for their Wroclaw showdown, and that is an advantage that Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping to use.

Wednesday’s underdogs also have an excellent record against the better teams in their division, losing just two of their 10 meetings with La Liga’s top five this season, including victories over Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid.

Isco and Palmer to catch the eye

Despite not starting his first game of the season until just before Christmas, Isco heads into Real Betis’s final game of the season as the club’s top goalscorer and top assist maker.

He has scored 12 and assisted 10 in all competitions, averaging a goal contribution every 102 minutes.

His latest was an assist for Antony’s opener against Valencia on Friday, leaving him with four assists in his last nine competitive matches.

The former Real Madrid man has four UEFA Champions League medals to his name, and that big-game experience could spur him on to new heights in Poland.

Cole Palmer followed an incredible 2023/24 season with an impressive first half of this campaign, and while his form has dropped off significantly in the second half of this term, he remains the Blues’ main attacking threat.

The 23-year-old has scored just one goal since the middle of January, but he leads the Chelsea squad for shots (135) and shots on target (48) in all competitions, and he will be their main danger man against Betis.

Palmer had one shot on target against Forest and has tested the opposition goalkeeper at least once in eight of his last nine appearances in all competitions.
