The NFL has officially unveiled the 2025 regular season schedule, revealing a slate of highly anticipated matchups. One of the most exciting games slated for the year features the Dallas Cowboys hosting the reigning AFC champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, on Thanksgiving Day.
This holiday showdown will be the first meeting between the two franchises since November 2021, when the Chiefs pulled off a 19-9 victory. During that matchup, Dallas entered the game with the league’s top-ranked offense but struggled against Kansas City’s defense.
The Thanksgiving clash also marks Kansas City’s return to the holiday spotlight for the first time since 2006.
The Cowboys head into the new season following a difficult 2024 campaign. Plagued by injuries, including a season-ending hamstring injury to Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott, Dallas missed the playoffs. Their disappointing performance led to major coaching changes, most notably the departure of Mike McCarthy after five seasons. Former offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has stepped into the role of head coach, marking his first time leading an NFL team.
On the other side, the Chiefs are looking to bounce back after a dominant 2024 regular season that ended with heartbreak in Super Bowl 59, where they were handed a decisive loss by the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite finishing the season with a league-best 15-2 record, Kansas City fell short of securing a third consecutive championship. Now, they’re aiming to become the first team since the 1990s Buffalo Bills to reach the Super Bowl in four straight years.
Football fans can look forward to an electric Thanksgiving Day matchup as two of the league’s most storied franchises go head-to-head.
