Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi underwent emergency surgery on Monday night following a serious abdominal injury sustained during Sunday’s Premier League clash against Leicester City.
The Nigeria international suffered the injury late in the 2-2 draw at the City Ground after colliding with the goalpost. Medical staff determined that immediate surgery was necessary due to the severity of the injury. Fortunately, the condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Awoniyi’s recovery timeline has yet to be confirmed, but the incident marks a significant blow for Forest as they continue their fight in the league.
