Sunday's football tips: Irish battler Cullen 23/10 for a card in crunch World Cup clash with Hungary

The Republic of Ireland have kept their hopes alive in World Cup qualification and it has set up a thrilling decider in Hungary today.

The Irish bust plenty of coupons with Thursday’s 2-0 win over Group F leaders Portugal in Dublin and that has left them just a point behind second-placed Hungary.

They now head to Budapest for the final group game, knowing a win would lift them above their hosts and secure a play-off place.

Hungary vs Republic of Ireland

Hungary have only lost once in the group, at home to Portugal, and it took a late Joao Cancelo goal to condemn to that 3-2 defeat.

They were also 2-1 up in Dublin before going down to 10 men and would have held on for the win had Adam Idah not scored deep into stoppage time.

So I fancy the Hungarians to win today at 20/23 with BOYLE Sports, although the caveat is they only need a draw to secure runners-up slot.

Backing a busy 90 minutes for the ref might be the best option after we saw eight yellows and a red in the last meeting.

I can’t see any markets for total cards but Irish midfielder Josh Cullen is 23/10 at Ladbrokes to go into the book and that appeals after he was booked in the first meeting.

Troy Parrot’s tail will be up after his double against Portugal so he also looks good at evens for a shot on target with Bet365.

Italy vs Norway

Norway have one foot in the World Cup finals and just need to avoid a nine-goal defeat in Milan tonight to finish top of Group I.

It’s a testament to Italy’s resilience that they’re still in with an outside chance of catching a team who have won all seven qualifiers and boast a goal difference of +29.

Rino Gattuso’s side will give it a go but most bookies don’t even offer odds on a 9-0 win, although Paddy Power do price it at 200/1.

Italy will still want to head into the play-offs on a high though and they’re 21/20 favourites at BOYLE Sports, with Norway 13/5 to complete the perfect campaign.

The Azzurri needed two late goals to beat Moldova on Thursday and lost 3-0 in Oslo so there could be some value in backing the Norwegians in the one goal ahead market at evens.

Norway full-back Julian Ryerson was fouled five times in his last outing and he’s a tempting evens at Bet365 to be fouled over 1.5 times tonight.

Albania vs England

England haven’t put a foot wrong so far in World Cup qualifying and have the chance to make it eight successive wins in Albania tonight.

This game is a dead rubber, with the Three Lions home and hosed in Group K and Albania assured of second place.

But Thomas Tuchel will still want to build more momentum ahead of the World Cup and will be out to keep up a proud record of not having conceded in the group.

Another England win to nil tonight pays 23/20 at BOYLE Sports and that looks good provided Tuchel doesn’t field a second-string side.

A goal off the bench against Serbia on Thursday could earn Eberechi Eze a star and the Arsenal star is 11/10 at Bet365 to either score or assist.

Super singles

  • Josh Cullen to be carded 23/10 Ladbrokes
  • Norway one goal ahead market Evens BOYLE Sports
  • Eberechi Eze goal or assist 11/10 Bet365
