Jeff McNeil Expected to Be Ready for Spring Training Following Thoracic Outlet Procedure | AmNewYork - SCCG Management

New York Mets second baseman Jeff McNeil underwent a minor thoracic outlet syndrome procedure after experiencing pain while swinging a bat post-regular season. McNeil’s agent, Garrett Parcell, informed Joel Sherman of the New York Post that McNeil is expected to be ready by spring training. The 33-year-old is entering the final guaranteed year of his contract, valued at $15.75 million. After two challenging seasons, he achieved a .746 OPS, his highest in three years. McNeil also played center field to help the team after Jose Siri’s leg injury but is not expected to continue in that position next year according to David Stearns. The Mets have top prospect Jett Williams, along with Luisangel Acuna and Ronny Mauricio, competing for positions. Additionally, the team could explore the free-agent market for another infielder. If Alex Bregman is signed, third baseman Brett Baty might also be considered for the second base role.
