Thursday's football tips: Serbs look good at 11/8 in the card handicap against Tuchel's Lions

England can relax in World Cup qualifying with a place at the finals already secured but Thomas Tuchel will still want to chalk up another victory against Serbia tonight.

The Three Lions turned in their best performance under the German when they romped to a 5-0 win in Belgrade that effectively sealed top spot in Group K.

The Serbs then followed that up by losing at home to Albania and another defeat at Wembley tonight will end their play-off hopes.

England vs Serbia top betting tips

This should be a decent game to watch as the Serbians need to go for it, with a draw unlikely to be much use to them.

But can they breach a defence which has yet to conceded a goal in six qualifiers so far? The bookies don’t think so, with BTTS no priced at 8/11, but Tuchel’s side might take their foot off the gas a little with the job done. So there could be some value in backing BTTS at evens with BOYLE Sports.

With the game meaning more to Serbia, they should pick up more cards than England so that’s a market worth looking at. Backing Serbia at -1 in the card handicap pays a decent 11/8 at Bet365 while BOYLE Sports price Fulham midfielder Sasa Lukic at 7/4 to go in the book.

Republic of Ireland vs Portugal

The Republic of Ireland’s play-off hopes are dangling by a thread and their dream could die tonight if they lose at home to Portugal.

Hungary’s late Lisbon leveller last time out was a hammer blow to the Irish as it left them one point behind with two games to go.

It also stopped the Portuguese from sealing their place at the finals so Roberto Martinez’s men will be out to finish the job in Dublin.

Heimir Hallgrimsson’s men defended heroically away from home against Portugal before falling to a stoppage-time winner.

That will give them some hope but Martinez’s men still look worthy 4/11 favourites. I’m going to back Portugal for a win with under 3.5 goals, which pays 23/20 at BOYLE Sports.

Josh Cullen will be at the heart of the midfield battle and he’s 9/4 at BOYLE Sports to go into the book while Bet365 price him at 6/4 for over 1.5 fouls.

Norway vs Estonia

Norway have arguably been the most impressive side in UEFA World Cup qualifying and they can plant one foot in the finals with a win over Estonia tonight.

Six successive victories have fired the Norwegians to the top of Group I, including a statement 3-0 triumph at home to Italy.

But the Azzurri have managed to keep pace with them since that loss and remain three points behind with two games to go.

A win over Estonia tonight would likely leave Norway needing to avoid a four-goal loss away to Italy to book their place at the finals.

And BOYLE Sports make them 1/40 hot favourites to see off the Estonians in the penultimate game. It took a solitary Erling Haaland goal to seal victory in Tallinn, though, so under 4.5 goals might be worth a punt at 20/23 tonight, given nerves may bite for the hosts.

Red-hot Haaland is just 1/7 to score and even backing him for two or more only boosts the odds to 4/7. But he’s 5/4 at BOYLE Sports to break the deadlock while Bet365 price him at 15/8 to score a header.
