Knicks' Historic Offense Keeps Garden Undefeated with 133-120 Win Over Grizzlies | AmNewYork - SCCG Management

For the first time since the 2012-13 “Knickstape” era, the New York Knicks have started the season undefeated at Madison Square Garden through their first seven home games after a 133-120 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night.

The Knicks began the season 2-3, but their initial struggles under a new coaching staff seem to have subsided. Their offense is now firing, leading to five consecutive wins and a 7-3 record, placing them second in the Eastern Conference, just behind their 2025 first-round playoff opponents, the Detroit Pistons.

Their last five victories have been commanding, all by double digits. The Knicks have been dominant offensively, exceeding 130 points in three consecutive games, a first in franchise history.

However, head coach Mike Brown recognized that there is still room for progress.

“I thought the first half tonight we were really good. We had plenty of ball reversals, we touched the paint multiple times. We sprayed it. I thought, offensively, we looked really good in the first half,” he said. “The second half, we didn’t move the ball as much. We didn’t space the floor as much. … Our decisions weren’t quick in the second half.”

The Knicks delivered one of their strongest performances last night, hitting a season-high 22 three-pointers at 40% accuracy, just two short of their franchise record of 24 in a single game. By the end of the third quarter, they had scored 114 points, their highest in three quarters since 2008.

Jalen Brunson played his fifth 30-plus point game of the season and had his most efficient shooting game of the year, going 11-for-19 from the field and making six threes on 66.7% shooting.

Mikal Bridges has been the team’s unsung hero, excelling on both sides of the ball. He was the second-leading scorer last night with 22 points, three three-pointers, and a season-high four steals against the Grizzlies. Bridges is enjoying a career-best performance from long range, averaging 2.7 threes per game on a 47.4% clip.

Despite being second to the Pistons in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks boast the best performance in the East by net rating. Their +9.5 net rating ranks fourth in the league, more than four points ahead of Detroit’s +5.3.

This offensive success isn’t just about lucky shooting. Mike Brown has transformed the team’s offensive approach. The Knicks are now the league’s top three-point shooting team, tied with the Cavaliers for the most made threes at 17.0 per game, but with a better efficiency of 38.5% compared to Cleveland’s 36.1%. They average 44.1 three-point attempts per game, significantly higher than last year’s 34.0 under Tom Thibodeau.

Beyond three-point shooting, the Knicks have become a well-oiled machine with effective ball movement and contributions from the entire bench. New York averages 310.9 passes per game, a +29.7 increase from last year’s 281.2. With new additions, the Knicks’ bench scoring has also risen significantly, averaging 31.9 points compared to last year’s 19.9.

The Knicks’ offense is in prime condition. If Brown and the team can maintain these offensive performances, they could become one of the most formidable teams not only in the East but in the entire NBA.

The Knicks aim to continue their historic offensive streak and remain undefeated at home as they face the Orlando Magic tonight at the Garden.
