NEXT.io Valletta 2025: Innovation and Insight in the Heart of the Mediterranean
Returning once again to the iconic city of Valletta, Malta, I had the privilege of attending the 2025 NEXT.io Summit—a cornerstone event for the global iGaming community. Set in the historic Mediterranean Conference Centre, this year’s gathering brought together thousands of leaders, operators, regulators, and innovators ready to push the boundaries of our industry.
What makes NEXT.io special is not just the venue or the scale, but the substance. Across the sessions, three core themes dominated conversations:
1. Artificial Intelligence Driving Industry Transformation
AI is no longer a theoretical concept—it’s actively shaping how platforms personalize player experiences, prevent fraud, and streamline operations. Discussions centered around the practical implementation of AI tools across CRM systems, compliance monitoring, and predictive modeling for risk and engagement.
2. Regulatory Headwinds and the Rise of the Black Market
Panels tackled one of the most pressing issues facing global operators: how to protect legal markets while disincentivizing black market activity. It’s a conversation that cuts across borders, and Malta—given its role as a regulatory hub—served as the perfect backdrop for these debates.
3. Elevating Marketing Through Smart Data and Social Integration
With rising acquisition costs and shifting audience expectations, marketers across the gaming space are adopting new strategies. These include real-time data optimization, gamified experiences, and tighter integration with streaming, influencer, and social platforms to keep players engaged.
Outside the sessions, I had the chance to meet up with old friends and client partners including Altenar, Kalamba Games, Baum Games, and Tom Horn Gaming. Visiting Altenar’s HQ in Malta and discussing their global sportsbook expansion strategies was a personal highlight. Edward Leahy of Publishers Clearing House (PCH) Media represented our partner exceptionally well during a standout panel on adaptability in today’s U.S. market.
From sharing meals in Old Town Valletta to walking the waterfront with my fellow Dartmouth alum John Christmas, the trip reminded me why Malta remains the heartbeat of our industry—it’s where real connections meet real innovation.
SBC Summit Americas 2025: LATAM Meets the U.S.
The momentum doesn’t stop in Malta. Next week, we bring that same energy to Fort Lauderdale for the SBC Summit Americas, taking place May 13–15. For the first time, SBC is merging its North America and Latinoamérica conferences into one powerful event—combining the full force of two rapidly growing markets.
Here’s what I’m looking forward to most:
– LATAM’s Acceleration into Regulated iGaming
With progress in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, operators are racing to scale responsibly. The conference will feature discussions on regulatory readiness, brand localization, and sustainable market growth.
– Tribal, State, and International Convergence
Expect a focus on how Tribal operators in the U.S. are working with—or competing against—commercial brands and international suppliers. Conversations around Class II on-premise mobile gaming and emerging jurisdictional alignments will be key.
– Performance Marketing, Payments & Player Trust
Operators are looking to level up—literally and figuratively. Whether it’s through programmatic ad campaigns, biometrics for KYC, or loyalty-driven CRM systems, the spotlight is on tech that scales and secures.
Over 10,000 attendees and 300 exhibitors are expected to attend. It’s a must-be-there moment for any company looking to expand in the Western Hemisphere.
Let’s Connect in Fort Lauderdale
I’ll be on-site all week representing SCCG and meeting with our client partners, friends, and new collaborators. If you’re looking to expand into new markets, align with the right tech, or need strategic insight to grow your gaming business, let’s talk.
